NIU STEM Cafe: Solar Eclipse – When the Dragon Swallows the Sun, Two Brothers Roundhouse, Monday, August 21, 6:30 – 8:30 pm

The frightening spectacle of a solar eclipse has inspired terror, local chaos, subjugation of the masses, ingenious tales and even social science in ancient cultures.

Join Chris Davis, Archaeoastronomist, and Richard Cooler, NIU professor emeritus of Art History and Southeast Asian Studies, to explore how people have explained and use eclipses in both scientific and mythological manners.
